EDT RELEASE 91-65 NASA LEWIS RESEARCH CENTER DEPUTY DIRECTOR NAMED The NASA Administrator Richard Truly today announced the appointment of Dr. J. Stuart Fordyce as Deputy Director of NASA Lewis Research Center, Cleveland, effective immediately. Dr. Fordyce has been Director of Aerospace Technology at Lewis since 1984 and has had senior management responsibility for NASA Lewis' efforts in aeropropulsion materials and structures research, space power, propulsion, communications and advanced electronics technologies, energy technology and microgravity materials science. Since joining the Lewis staff in 1966, Dr. Fordyce has held a series of increasingly responsible positions at Lewis including Chief, Space Power Technology Division, 1982-1984; Deputy Division Chief, 1980-1982; Chief, Electrochemistry Branch. He also has contributed over 30 reports and articles in space energy conversion system technologies, urban air pollution, solid ionic conduction, electrocatalysis, spectroscopy of complexes in high temperature molten salts and photochemical kinetics. Dr. Fordyce received the A.B. degree from Dartmouth College and the PhD in physical chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He resides with his wife, Beverly, in Fairview Park, Ohio. - end -
