Meteorological and Oceanographic Data Collected from National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) C-MAN Station CSBF1, Cape San Blas, FL, for the Time Period of March 1983 to Present
Content Description
Abstract: Data set contains meteorological and oceanographic data collected from National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) Coastal Marine Automated Network (C-MAN) station CSBF1, Cape San Blas, FL, for the time period of March 1983 to Present. These data are collected, processed, and relayed in near-real-time to National Weather Service(NWS)forecasters. Data are normally available hourly. Data are subsequently archived at NDBC, at the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), and (in abbreviated formats) at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC. Station identifier, data date and time, position, water depth, sampling details, averaging times, selected Data Collection Platform (DCP) details (e.g. anemometer height), and values of processed data values are provided. The most detailed data (available from NODC) are in Standard File Types 191 (before 19910130) and 291 (after 19910130). Air temperature, sea surface temperature, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, and wind gusts are generally available. Continuous winds readings are only available after 06/89. Other data (e.g. dew point, precipitation, solar radiation, visibility) may be measured at particular stations. Data gaps may exist. For information on sensor payloads, availability of various parameters, data gaps, and periods when not operational, see the data availability summary at http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/Data_availability/stations/da_CSBF1.html. Historical data and real time data (if available) are found on the internet at http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_history?$station=CSBF1. Information on the station itself and real-time conditions at the station may be found at http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.phtml?$station=CSBF1. Date convention in this metadata: Start/end times are accurate to the month only. All start times are given as beginning on day 1 of that month. End times are given as last day of the month. More than one data record may exist for this station to distinguish major, long term changes in parameter availability.
Purpose: NDBC provides comprehensive, reliable systems and marine observations to support the missions of the National Weather Service (NWS) and NOAA, promote public safety, and satisfy the future needs of our customers.
