Galway University Hospital
Galway, Ireland

Galway University Hospital is one of eight major academic teaching hospitals in Ireland and has close links to the National University of Ireland, Galway. The hospital aims to deliver high quality and equitable care for all its patients in a safe and secure environment, and to achieve excellence in clinical practice, teaching, training and research. GUH has an ongoing modernization program and has recently introduced new computer-based systems such as RIS-PACS and Laboratory and Clinical Information Systems to the ICU, Cardiology, and Diabetes departments. GUH has a bed capacity of 639 and saw over 27,000 inpatients in 2005.

In March 2006, GUH became the fourth major TELESYNERGY® site in the Republic of Ireland. While the system is primarily used by the Radiotherapy department, its location in the classroom wing of the hospital will hopefully lead to usage in other departments as well.

Equipment installed at this site: Full TELESYNERGY® system using NIH software on a Linux Workstation.
