The most significant thing keeping me from actively pursuing my ham radio license is the Morse requirement. While I am certain I could learn the Morse and be able to copy CW adequately eventually, it is simply a matter of time. My job and family requirements make it difficult to find the time to practice the many hours it would take to become proficient at cw. To wit, I am not driven enough to overcome this obstacle - 13WPM would be a practical impossibility as proposed in 98-143, although 5WPM would at least be attainable. IMHO, ham radio is going to die on the vine if the CW requirements are maintained. If I did not have to deal with CW, I would make the effort to get my ham license. I could find the time to read the books and learn the theory. Sitting for hours learning to send and copy CW at 13WPM just isn't in the picture, however. Ethan C. Banks
