Two F-16s from the 183rd Fighter Wing of the Illinois Air National Guard flew over the Goraszka Air Show held outside Warsaw on June 4-5.
Attending the air show for the flyover on Sunday were Ambassador Victor Ashe and Major General Randy Thomas, Adjutant General of the Illinois National Guard.
The F-16s are part of a deployment to Krzesiny Air Base outside of Poznan, to provide orientation on the aircraft to Polish Air Force personnel.
Poland is scheduled to receive the first of its F-16s in November 2006.
The Illinois Air National Guard unit will be in Poland for approximately two weeks.
It will also participate in a VIP day at Krzesiny on June 10 , where senior Polish political and military leaders will receive an orientation on the F-16, and an Open House on June 12, where the public will be invited to visit the Air Base.
The Illinois National Guard has a State Partnership Program with Poland.
F-16s from the same unit were deployed to Poland in 1997 as part of the Partnership for Peace Exercise “Eagle Talon.”
