weatherwise during january of 2009 in shreveport and bossier
city ... louisiana ... we recorded slightly warmer and drier conditions
than normal. this january tallied only 2. 14 inches of rainfall for
the 27th driest january on record.

january of 2009 continued a string of uneventful months since the
hurricane filled first two weeks of september 2008. the month`s
only significant weather occurred during the 28th and 29th with a
cold arctic airmass. some very light freezing rain and sleet fell
during the wee hours of the 28th. during the morning of the
29th ... dense freezing fog developed during the morning and deposited
a thick layer of hoarfrost on area roadways and bridges ... and
resulted in several automobile accidents.

shreveport broke a daily high temperature record for january 3rd as
the high reached a balmy 81 degrees ... and bested the old record for
the date of 78 degrees set during 1949.
