Land Cover Applications and Global Change

The Land Cover Applications and Global Change Branch integrates field data, remote sensing, and simulation models to better understand and seek solutions to national and global issues. Our applications support sustainable natural resource use, carbon cycle science, biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, adaptive management, and robust simulation modeling approaches that evaluate ecosystem and landscape dynamics and simulate future scenarios.

  International Program

The International Program extends our knowledge and under-standing of earth processes by undertaking comparative studies of climate change, assessments of hazards, analyses of land cover change, and monitoring dynamic earth processes. The International Program specializes in projects that use remotely sensed data or Geographic Information Systems to address issues of sustainable development, resource management, land cover change, hydro-climatic monitoring, and early warning systems in many countries around the world.
