Davenport, IA ... Genesis Systems Group is the largest supplier of robotic welding workcells in North America. The company’s expertise is in two primary areas - the design, manufacture and implementation of robotic welding systems, and the design of fabrications for automation. Genesis has installed over 1,800 robotic workcells in 41 states and 7 countries.

Founded in 1983, the business began as a regional supplier predominantly serving the construction and agricultural equipment industry. As their reputation for being a quality supplier-partner quickly spread, their customer base dramatically grew. Genesis’ success is rooted in the simple belief that they must help their customers be successful by providing excellent manufacturing engineering support, best of class system solutions, and exceptional after-shipment service.

Richard Litt started the business in Rock Island, Illinois. His expertise in welding automation and manufacturing engineering along with his relentless drive to exceed his customer’s expectations established the foundation for the business. In 1987, the company moved to a 20,000 square foot building in Davenport, Iowa. The move to Davenport created the dual benefit of adding space to accommodate growth and adding trained workers subsidized through an Iowa program designed to bring high technology investment to the State. During the move to Iowa, Genesis benefited from assistance offered by the Eastern Iowa Small Business Development Center, a business assistance branch of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). As their customer base expanded, so did the number of their facilities. In 1997, they consolidated facilities into their current headquarters in northern Davenport. They now serve their customers from facilities in Davenport and Sterling Heights, Michigan.
 
Genesis is currently 140 members strong and growing. Over 85% of their workforce is directly involved in the design, build, application and support of robotic systems. Their staff is largely comprised of people with welding, tooling, electrical and mechanical engineering degrees along with a variety of technical Associate degrees. They offer the widest array of services and products in the industry to support the success of their customers. These service and products include dimensional engineering, design for automation, manufacturing engineering, standard workcells and components, custom systems, tooling, part programming, process development, installation assistance, training, single-source warranty, and after-shipment service.

Genesis’ extensive product line of flexible robotic systems includes standard pre-engineered workcells to completely custom systems. Their workcells reflect years of welding automation know-how to meet a wide range of robotic welding applications. Today, Genesis Systems Group technology is used in the fabrication of a large number of products from industries, such as automotive, construction and agricultural equipment, office furniture, trucks and trailers, lawn and garden equipment, exercise apparatus, and recreational vehicles.

The company has been honored by numerous recognition awards for product performance, customer satisfaction and community involvement. Richard Litt, the founder, was recognized by the SBA as the Iowa Small Business Person of the Year in 1997.
