ST MEETING 13 July, Forecast for 14 July - DOY 195 ST meeting 0713 Sunday Meteo outlook DAY N+1. Upper levels: Cold low SW of Sagres creating instability around the Gulf of Cadiz. Winds turning counterclockwise around the low. Upward movements around Gulf of Cadiz and subsidence over the remaining, quite strong near Canarias. Low levels: high of 1032 mb over Azores extending E to N Spain; thermal low over N Africa; related low S of Spain. Winds mainly from N and NE with 18 Kts on average over the sea and weak over Iberian Peninsula. MBL-depth increasing around Sagres, rising somewhat over Canaries, decreasing around Madeira. Scattered to broken cover of Cu and Sc around Madeira and N of Canaries, with possibility of some rain N of Tenerife; SW of the Iberian Peninsula (including Sagres) variable to abundant cloudiness, mainly medium and high, with possible isolated thunderstorms; scant cloudiness or clear skies over N Portugal and westward off-shore. DAY N+2. The same as N+1, but the high over Azores tends to weaken, and the low relative pressure area shifts westward lying under the low center aloft. Winds turn at all levels counterclockwise around the low center, just SW of Sagres. Abundant cloudiness, with showers and probable thuntherstorms, SW and over the Iberian Peninsula, including Sagres; over the remaining scattered to broken of Cu and Sc, with still possible rain N of Tenerife. Clean air is expected everywhere, except perhaps over Sagres since low-level trajectories hug Iberian-coast. DAY N+3, N+4 Both days: the low tends to fill and to move NE, becoming absorbed by the General Circulation. On the other hand the high tends to weaken and to split-up, while a new deep low approaches W of Azores. Air could be anthropogenic N of the area, near the N Portuguese coast, as a result of the circulation around the low. Around Sagres it's difficult to decide due to the rotating winds and expected convection over Spain and N Africa, so air could be clean, anthropogenic, dust, or mixture of them.
