Federal Women's Program Manager: Veronica Hill, Code 120
The FWP was established in 1972 by Executive Order 11478. Its purpose is to promote the advancement of women and to advise management of issues confronting women in the workplace. In the 1970's, the FWP established Center Upward Mobility Programs, the Goddard Child Development Center, and provided training and forums for networking among women. More recently, the FWP has initiated a program for nursing mothers, developed materials and training on domestic violence issues, and is currently developing a centerwide survey on Quality of work life concerns.
The FWP is conducted largely though the Women's Advisory Committee (WAC) at Greenbelt and by the Women of Wallops (WOW) at Wallops. Members of both advisory groups are appointment by their Directorates to help identify and resolve issues of concern to women. The advisory groups typically host programs for Women's History Month and Women's Equality Day and coordinate the Center's Take Our Daughters to Work Day events. The WOW has initiated an annual Women of Wallops Day, which offers workshops of interest to women and highlights a luncheon speaker. The WAC hosts periodic lunchtime seminars on a variety of topics.
