The papers of Leon F. Barnard (1877-1917) span the years 1901-ca.
1993. Barnard was secretary to the unsuccessful Baldwin-Ziegler expedition to
the North Pole, 1901-1902. The collection contains photocopies of memoranda,
agreements, statements, reports, and newspaper clippings relating to the
expedition as well as a transcript of Barnard's polar diary, 1901-1902, with
supplement, 1902. The papers also include a brief history of the expedition
written circa 1993 by his daughter, Alice Barnard Thomsen.
