20th
National Information Systems Security
Conference
October 7-10, 1997
Baltimore Convention Center
Baltimore, Maryland

The Information Age offers us unmatched opportunities and challenges. Perhaps the greatest challenge we face is SECURITY.

Do you know that the entire information system of a Fortune 500 corporation was shut down for three full days by a logic bomb activated by a contractor?

Do you know that critical personal information of as many as 20,000 employees of a major US apparel manufacturer was stolen earlier this year from the companyÕs database?

Do you know that a typical high tech theft results in a $2 million loss compared to $2,500 for a typical bank robbery?

There has never been a more urgent need than there is today for everyone involved in the global economy to be concerned about the security of their information. Most organizations, public or private, depend upon networked information systems. This has opened broad avenues for unauthorized access to private information and expanded the possibilities for electronic theft, degradation or damage to data and systems. And the threats we face are continually increasing.

For twenty years, people around the world who are interested in securing their information systems have been gathering annually at the National Information Systems Security Conference to hear from experts about the day's hottest security issues. The conference attracts more than 2,000 participants from companies, universities and government agencies the world over. It provides a unique international forum for discussing, debating and understanding such critical topics as:

This year's conference will take place on Oct. 7-10, 1997 in Baltimore, Maryland. It is held in parallel with the Information Systems Security Exposition, sponsored by the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, which showcases the latest information systems security technologies. In addition, special pre-conference workshops will be held on Oct. 6, 1997.
