Contextual Indicators

The Coastal Zone Management Act Performance Measurement System (CZMAPMS) contextual indicators provide information on environmental and socioeconomic factors that may influence or be influenced by actions of coastal zone management programs and national estuarine research reserves. The set of contextual indicators were chosen by OCRM and its partner coastal management programs and reserves during the development of the CZMAPMS to complement the performance measures.

OCRM collects data for the contextual indicators from existing national data sources.  Results are available at the national and regional scales and are updated periodically. For some indicators, results are also available at the state and county scales and can be provided upon request.  Details on the contextual indicators can be found in the contextual indicator manual, including information on data sources, data analyses, and scheduled updates for each indicator.
