Great Lakes Coastal Forecasting System (GLCFS)

The Great Lakes Coastal Forecasting System is a real-time coastal prediction system that was developed for forecasting wind-waves, surface water level fluctuations, and horizontal and vertical structure of temperatures and currents in the Great Lakes. It was originally developed as a joint demonstration project by Ohio State University and GLERL.

A publicly-accessible version of this system, GLFS, was operated by OSU from 1994 to 2004. In 1997, GLERL developed a stand-alone workstation version, GLCFS, intended primarily for operational use by National Weather Service (NWS) marine forecasters in the Great Lakes. GLCFS products are displayed at the NWS Grand Rapids, MI Office.
