preventing selection of the protected member during least recently used (LRU) victim selection by tagging said protected member as a most recently used (MRU) member during a first pass through an MRU update logic and for treating the protected member as the MRU member during each pass through the memory component to identify an LRU victim member, regardless of whether the protected member is a current MRU member.
