Abstract: The Buffalo District of the Corps of Engineers, with its' Survey Section, perform hydrographic surveys on all federally authorized channels within the District's boundaries. These surveys are performed in accordance with USACE Engineering Manual (EM) 1110-2-1003, "Hydrographic Surveying". Every harbor is surveyed at least once a year, called 'Project Condition Soundings'. If there is dredging to be performed, 'Before Contract Dredging Soundings' and 'After Contract Dredging Soundings'. *****The harbor in this case is Dunkirk Harbor, Dunkirk, NY. Type Start date End date Proj. Con. 04/19/01 04/23/01 After's 08/02/01 08/02/01 Soundings were plotted on MicrostationSE format. Filenames used in the original plotting have a '.dgn' extension. They were renamed to a '.dat' extension. there is one master reference file that was attached to the individual sheet design files. This master has the soundings, shoreline, channel line, roads, etc.. In the case of Dunkirk Harbor , that master was 'duk01p.dgn', renamed to 'duk01pdgn.dat'. . The 'p' in the name stands for 'Project Condition', 'b' for 'Before', and 'A' for 'After'. Any questions, contact the Survey Section at 716-879-4285
