Watermelon (APH)
A watermelon pilot program is available for the 1999-2001 crop years for the following state and county combinations:
State:      Counties:
Alabama:Geneva
Delaware:Sussex
Florida:Alachua   Jackson   Manatee
Georgia:Crisp   Tift   Turner   Worth
Maryland:Chowan   Sampson
North Carolina:Wicomico
Texas:Duval   Frio   Hidalgo

The watermelon pilot program is an Actual Production History (APH) plan of multiple peril crop insurance. For unharvested and direct marketed acreage, appraisals will be performed to determine the production to count against the guarantee.
Insured causes of loss are:

  • Adverse weather
  • Fire
  • Wildlife
  • Insects
  • Plant disease
  • Earthquake
  • Volcanic eruption
  • Failure of irrigation water supply
  • Excess wind
