Our Research Focus
The Forensic Toxicology Research Team detects and measures drugs, alcohol, toxic gases,
and toxic industrial chemicals in victims of fatal aircraft accidents as a contribution
to the analysis of accident causation. This team also studies the conditions which
affect the accuracy and validity of such measurements, and adapts or develops improved
methods for making such measurements. Clinical chemical measurements are made and
analyzed to determine significant health trends in aviation personnel, and analytical
service is furnished in support of other Civil Aerospace Medical Institute tasks when
required.
