Toxicology Laboratories:
About Us

The Toxicology Laboratories of the Veterans Affairs North Texas Health Care System are devoted to the detection, confirmation, and quantitation of drugs and/or poisons in human specimens. The most commonly performed drug tests are those designed to detect drugs in urine. Urine is one of the most common matrices for the detection of drugs for practical reasons. Drugs tend to concentrate in the urine as they are filtered from the body and the ease of specimen collection makes urine the preferred specimen. The Toxicology Laboratories also perform adulteration testing to ensure the integrity of the analytical results as well as specialty testing for use in civil matters, such as determining cause of death, driving under the influence, etc.

The department utilizes state of the art methodology and a highly experienced, competent staff is available to help you in the interpretation of results.
