RTD's Research Mission

Our mission is to conduct research that supports EPA Program Offices and Regions in evaluating the potential impact of environmental contaminants on reproductive function including fertility, embryonic and fetal development, and reproductive integrity. We view this mission broadly, with the understanding that reproductive health encompasses not only the ability to conceive and give birth to healthy children, but also to maintain proper endocrine support of reproductive development and sexual health throughout life, from childhood through puberty and well beyond the reproductive years. Because reproductive health does not exist in isolation but depends upon and influences the function of other systems, we foster interdisciplinary research across NHEERL divisions and/or other ORD labs and centers, and collaborate with partners in academia and industry.
