LOCAL BANK ROBBERS SENTENCED

 

July 31, 2007, Nashville, Tennessee – Alberto Ganac was sentenced yesterday to serve 151 months in prison for his role in attempting to rob or robbing three local banks in January 2007, announced Craig S. Morford, the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee. Ganac’s co-conspirator, Larry R. McGlocklin, was sentenced on July 5, 2007, to serve 84 months for attempting to rob or robbing the same three banks, as well as a fourth bank he robbed by himself.

As the defendants admitted in their plea agreements, on January 11, 2007, the two men attempted to rob the Bank of America at 3800 Gallatin Pike, Nashville. Later that same day, they robbed the US Bank at 169 Main Street, Hendersonville. On January 16, 2007, they robbed the Regions Bank at 181 Belle Forrest Circle, Nashville. Finally, on January 22, 2007, McGlocklin robbed the Bank of America at 7043 Highway 70 South, Nashville.

On April 16, 2007, Ganac pled guilty to a three count indictment charging him with attempting to rob or robbing the three banks, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a). On April 23, 2007, McGlocklin pled guilty to a four count information charging him with attempting to rob or robbing the same three banks with Ganac, as well as robbing the fourth bank by himself, also in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2113(a). Both defendants pled guilty pursuant to plea agreements with the United States.

Yesterday, United States District Judge Todd J. Campbell sentenced Ganac to 151 months imprisonment on each of the three counts, all to be served concurrently. On July 5, 2007, United States District Judge Todd J. Campbell sentenced McGlocklin to serve 84 months imprisonment on each of the four counts, all to be served concurrently. Both defendants were ordered to pay restitution for the amounts they stole from the banks.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, and the Hendersonville Police Department. The United States was represented by Assistant United States Attorney Brent A. Hannafan.
