MANDATORY RELIABILITY STANDARDS FOR THE BULK-POWER SYSTEM Legal Authority: 16 USC 824o Abstract: The Commission approved 83 of 107 proposed Reliability Standards, 6 of 8 proposed regional differences and the Glossary of Terms used in Reliability Standards filed by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) as the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) as mandatory and enforceable standards and required the ERO to make significant improvements to 56 of the 83 Reliability Standards. The Commission also provided that the remaining 24 Reliability Standards will remain pending at the Commission until further information is provided. The Commission also added new regulations that require that each Reliability Standard identify the subset of users, owners and operators to which the Reliability Standard applies and that each Reliability Standard approved by the Commission must be posted on the ERO's Web site.
