Statement of Significance (as of designation - July 19, 1964):
Site depicts a late prehistoric and early historic period, representing the Gulf Coast Timucua Indian culture at the time of European contact.

In 2001, Pinellas County Park Department conducted an erosion prevention to protect the archeological resources at this National Historic Landmark.
