What is SMP?

The Saturday Morning Physics program is a free of charge series of nine lectures and tour visits given by Fermilab scientists with the purpose of further the understanding and appreciation of modern physics among high school students. The lectures are aimed at high school students without any previous scientific knowledge. This program in given three times a year in so called sessions. Full details of the SMP program can be found in the Program link at the top of your screen.

Announcement and Registration

An announcement of the Saturday Morning Physics program will be made in August to participating schools. Students in consultation with their science teachers or school principals can apply then.

The students must satisfy the elegibility requirements described here. Applications will be taken only for the coming academic year, and will be granted as the number of registered students do not exceed the maximum number of 150 per session. Location of Fermilab

Fermilab is located about 40 miles west of the Chicago loop, immediately east of the City of Batavia, north of Butterfield Road (Route 56) and south of Fabyan Parkway on Kirk Road.  Public transportation to the Laboratory is not available. See the location of Fermilab in google maps.
