Eastport, Idaho – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to the port of entry in Eastport, Idaho seized cocaine, marijuana and crystal methamphetamine from two Post Falls men who arrived 2 a.m. Thursday. The men, Brandon Alan Smith, 21, and Jesse Darrell Cline, 28, were arrested and turned over to Boundary County Sherriff’s Deputies along with the vehicle.
Idaho CBP officers seized 80 grams of cocaine hidden in the false cans, as well as other drugs in a vehicle occupied by two Idaho men.

Smith and Cline arrived at the port of entry driving Cline’s 1996 Volkswagen Jetta after being refused admission into Canada by Canada Border Services officers. CBP officers conducted a thorough secondary inspection of the subjects, the vehicle and its contents.

CBP officers at the Eastport, Idaho port of entry were alert enough to detect illicit drug hidden in this false, screw-top can.
Twenty grams of methamphetamine were discovered under the passenger seat in a sunglasses case. Eighty grams of cocaine were found in unique false screw-top cans. Crack cocaine pipes, a marijuana pipe, 4 grams of marijuana and Hydrocodone tablets were also seized.

“This seizure demonstrates CBP’s commitment to securing our nation’s borders,” said CBP Area Port Director Francis Brown. “These concealment methods demonstrate the challenges our officers face in detecting contraband. Our continued vigilance has once again paid off.”

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control, and protection of our Nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
