Minutes of the May 6, 2005 Tevatron Dept meeting 1. We welcomed Seva Kamerdjiev - new postdoc in TEL group. 2. Jerry on operations: 5 stores with luminosities 72-122e30; one store lost because of Booster controls reset; two stores with low luminosities were from AA and RR only - in the latter, pbar lifetime at 150 was record high 20 hrs, but lumi lifetime was ~15% lower for that luminosity (eff emittace grew too fast); D0 losses in squeeze are reduced sunstantially by changing chromaticities Q'x +3 Q'y -3 (now both ~12); D0 is 50% happier. 3. Tan: vert tunetracker commissioned; need to resolve Q' mystery at 150 (coal vs uncoal) and check that TT is OK on the ramp. 4. Vahid excited SF and SD at 90Hz to obtain 0.4 units of AC chromaticity, but did not observe any inprovement in head-tail stability of coalesced bunch at 150. Wants to increase the AC Q' to >1 unit (slew rate allows). 5. Mike Martens reported that new BPM hardware installed in ALL houses, F1, F3, F4 and A0 are still being debugged and do not report yet; "6k" problem has been fixed; +- 0.2 mm store-to-store orbit changes have been easily detected between two stores (that's just 1 LSB of the old system); CDF CPM show some 10-20 micron variation with pbar intensity (there was a discussion how that can happen). 6. Eliana analyzed TBT data from new BPMs and sees +-20-25% beta-wave in H plane and +-8% in vert plane (1-2% might be due to BPMs themselves); biggest errors are around D0; there is an obvious coupling error there as well. 7. Jerry informed that in about a year all VMS programs to be converted to LINUX and presented a list of things which program keepers have to do. 8. List of studies: a) D0 losses; b) long instability - both need new ideas; c) TT; d) stabilize pbar tunes in stores; e) E0 loss monitor calibr; f) AC Q'; g) BPM TBT commiss; h) make C100 main Q'-measmnt technique during shot setups; i) test IPM magnets; j) QXR beta msmnts at C0 and E17; k) calibr octup at LB; l) increase N_p/bunch for 3 bunches in regular stores - when MI guys are ready.
