2008 YOUTH AMBASSADORS PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS


Máximo Fernández – San Martín, Province of Buenos Aires
18 years old

Máximo graduated in 2007 from Vicente Lopez high school, which is located in the northern Buenos Aires suburbs.  While in school, he participated in the Model UN and Border Schools programs. Maximo’s dream is to some day become an Ambassador.  He speaks English and French and has a music group called Lobbypop.
 
Juan Pablo Porcel Drimoni – Tandil, Prov. of Buenos Aires
17 years old

Juan Pablo graduated in 2007 from Ernesto Sábato high school in Tandil, where he was also a member of the city’s Youth Council and participated in programs like The Reading Week, Know my City, and Tandil Walks.  He wishes to study Information Engineering in order to develop software for the business sector. Juan Pablo speaks English and some Chinese.
 
Larisa González – Corrientes
18 years old

Larisa is a 2007 graduate of the Technical School “Juana Manso” In Corrientes. She is a volunteer at the “Bernardino Rivadavia” Library and has taken part in several campaigns to promote reading.  Her dream is to pursue a diplomatic career and become a member of an international organization like the OAS or the UN. Larisa speaks English. 
 
Gabriela Vega – Libertador San Martín, Province of Jujuy
17 years old
Gabriela is a senior at the Superior Normal School “General San Martin.”  She dances to popular music and has participated actively in many festivals to raise money for the needy in her hometown.  In addition, Gabriela is a member of two religious groups, “Palestra” and “Legion de María.” She wishes to be a stewardess, travel around the world and meet people from different countries.  Gabriela speaks English. 
 
Natalia Rocha – Junin de los Andes, Province of Neuquén
18 years old
Natalia graduated from “María Auxiliadora” high school. She and her family volunteer at the local hospital.  She dreams of becoming a doctor and joining Doctors without Borders. She is set to start her university studies in 2008.  Natalia speaks English. 
 
Rodrigo Paz – Santa Rosa, Province of La Pampa
16 years old

Rodrigo is a junior at “Domingo Savio” high school, where he has participated in a number of volunteer activities that include setting up entertainment events for schools for blind children.  His dream is to become a doctor.  Rodrigo has been practicing his favorite sport, swimming, for several years. He speaks English. 
 
María Belén De Souza – Mendoza
16 years old
María Belén is a senior at “Martín Miguel de Güemes” high school.  With her religious group, Belén is actively involved in volunteer programs such us organizing entertainment activities and talks on global issues for youth from several Argentine provinces.  She wishes to study psychology and to work at public hospitals and in schools.  Belén speaks English. 
 
Mariano Carmona – San Juan
17 years old

Mariano is a senior at Mariano Moreno high school.  He has participated in many volunteer programs organized by the group “Creando Acciones Solidarias” and is also a member of his school’s Student Council.  He is very interested in politics and science and wants to study Industrial Engineering.  Mariano speaks English.
 
Estefanía Paez Montero – San Luis
17 years old

Estefanía graduated in 2007 from the Normal School “Juan Pascual Pringues.”  She is a volunteer at a center for handicapped young people and at the “San Roque” soup-kitchen.  Estefanía wants to become an accountant and an English translator.  She speaks English. 
 
Damiana Mesías – Sunchales, Province of Santa Fe
16 years old

Damiana is a junior at Technical School Nº 279 “Tte. Benjamín Matienzo.”  She is engaged in various volunteer programs at the “Club Deportivo Libertad” and participates in several literary and theater workshops.  Damiana participates also in poetry and chemistry competitions.  Her dream is to become a Chemical Engineer.  Damiana speaks English. 
 
Julián Miana – Santiago del Estero
16 years old
Julián is a junior at the School H. Moderno.  He wants to become a journalist and would like to travel the world and visit places like New York, Paris and Hong Kong.  He enjoys playing videogames with his friends and listening to music.  Julián studies English at the binational center ASICANA. 
 
Martín Maturana – Concepción, Province of Tucumán
17 years old

Martín is a senior at the National Technical School Nº 1.  He is a volunteer at the Center for Youth Activities.  Martín plays sports and the guitar.  In the future, he wishes to study Agricultural Engineering.  Martín speaks English.
