Tablet: Bartholdi created different versions of this statue, not sure which one was best.  He eventually chose to have the Statue hold a tablet in her left hand.  It is a book of law based on the founding principles of this
nation, a nation based on law.

1.  Think of laws that protect our rights. What body of law governs the country?
2.  What part of this document is particularly important to us as individuals?
3. If you were going to be in charge of your own country, what laws would be put into place?
4. Who would create them?
5. How would they be enforced?
