2005 High School Essay Contest Winners

Topic: This year – the World Year of Physics 2005 – celebrates the 100th anniversary of Einstein’s three seminal papers.  Choose a 20th-century physicist (not necessarily Einstein) and describe what impacts she or he had on human society in addition to her or his work in physics.

The awards ceremony was held on April 22, 2005.  Special thanks go to the judges who volunteered their time to read the 105 essays that were submitted: Jeanne Petschauer, Ed Kaplan, Len Schutzman, and Mike Stegman.  Thanks also go to our speakers: John Carter of the U.S. Department of Energy and Thomas Ludlam, the Associate Physics Department Chair for Nuclear Physics.
