How to Prepare International Airway Bills

Federal Express Airway Service

ITA is under contract with Federal Express to receive discounted government rates for international airway services. Offices pay charges for these services via the Government Purchase Card. Hard copy airway bills may be obtained from the purchase cardholder within your office or accessed on-line at www.federalexpress.com.

Federal Express airway bills should include the following information:

1. Date and sender's account number

Sender's name and telephone number
Agency name, street address, room number, city/state and zip code

2. Not applicable (under GSA SmartPay Program)

3. Recipient's name, phone number

Company name
Street address, room number, city/state and zip code

4. Shipment Information (handled by Federal Express Co.)

5. Type of service

6. Type of package

7. Special handling (if appropriate)

8a. Payment selection (usually bill sender)

8b. Duty payment selection (usually bill sender)

9. Sender's signature

DHL Airway Service

ITA is under contract with DHL Company to receive discounted government rates for international DHL Airway Service. Offices pay for these services via the Government Purchase Card. Hard copy airway bills may be obtained from the purchase card holder within your office.

DHL airway bills should include the following information:

1. Shipper's Reference (not applicable under GSA SmartPay Program)

Sender's name and room number
Sender's telephone number

2. Recipient's name, address, zip code, and phone number

3. Shipment details (fill in appropriate information)

Sender's signature and date

For same day pick up, completed airway bills and packages should be delivered to the mailroom by 3:30 p.m. or HCHB's main lobby before 6:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
