Profile: |
The Schoharie Medical Reserve Corps was established by resolution of the Schoharie County Board of Supervisors in March 2008 under the direction of the Schoharie County Health Department. The Mission of the Schoharie County MRC is to recruit and train both medical and nonmedical volunteers to assist public health and emergency response staff in the event of a large scale publc health emergency and to assist with non-emergency public health needs of the community throughout the year.

The Schoharie County Medical Reserve Corps held a community MRC informational meeting as part of a recruitment campaign for new members. The meeting was attended by interested community citizens and provided information about the Medical Reserve Corps program and its role in supporting both emergency and ongoing publich health initiatives. As a result of the event, 15 new volunteers were registered.

MRC Core Competency Training Day
On Saturday, 10/4/08, The Schoharie County MRC will be holding a full day training program for those registered MRC volunteers who would like to complete the MRC core competency training program in one day.Pre-Registration is required.

The Schoharie County Medical Reserve Corps held a community wide informational meeting to kick off a recruitment campaign for its recently formed MRC unit. The meeting was very well attended by county residents and provided information about the Medical Reserve Corps program and its role in supporting both emergency and ongoing publich health initiatives. As a result of that kickoff event, The Schoharie MRC has successfully registered 70 community volunteers in just a few weeks.
