Content Description
Abstract: RADISCON is a joint Food and Agriculture Organization/International Fund for Agriculture Development database targeted at 29 nations located in North Africa, the Sahel, the Horn of Africa, the Middle East and the Arab Gulf, which aim is to promote animal disease surveillance within and among countries. RADISCON implementation started in June 1996. It is hoped that the ongoing activities will increase the efficiency of control programmes. The project is assisting each individual country to establish its National Animal Disease Surveillance System (NADSS) and communication between participating nations is taking place electronically, where possible, using electronic mail facilities. RADISCON maintains a database of occurrences of animal diseases by country cluster.
Purpose: RADISCON seeks to develop an Animal Disease Surveillance and Control Network through a process of strengthening veterinary investigation, animal disease information and laboratory services, continued professional development and improved professional communication between neighboring countries.
