Foot Care
Coverage under Medicare Medicare generally does not cover routine foot care. However, foot care services may be billed if you are actively treated by a doctor for a medical condition affecting circulation of the legs or feet.

Medicare Part B covers the services of a podiatrist (foot doctor) for medically necessary treatment of injuries or diseases of the foot (such as hammer toe, bunion deformities and heel spurs).

The amount you need to pay You pay 100% for routine foot care.

You pay 20% of Medicare-approved amounts.

  1. You must pay an annual $135 (in 2009) deductible for Part B services and supplies before Medicare begins to pay its share.
