DCB Mission

The Division of Computational Bioscience (DCB) of CIT is a research and development organization that provides scientific and technical expertise in computational science and engineering to support the NIH Intramural Research Program (IRP). Working with all of the Institutes and the Clinical Center, DCB applies the concepts and technologies of computer science, engineering, physical science and mathematics to biomedical applications including the areas of image processing, biomedical informatics, genetic databases, structural biology, scientific visualization, medical imaging, telemedicine, signal processing, biomedical instrumentation, and biomathematics. We develop computational methods and tools for solving biomedical laboratory and clinical research problems and manage centralized scientific computational and communication systems. DCB also provides an environment to mentor computational scientists and engineers for careers in biomedical research.
