NOTICE CONCERNING DISTRIBUTION OF BROCHURE CONCERNING CONSENTING TO MAGISTRATE JUDGES’ JURISDICTION
Effective June 2, 2008, the court began distributing a brochure entitled Consenting To A Magistrate Judge’s Jurisdiction In The Northern District of California. A copy will be provided to plaintiff upon the filing of the complaint, or to the removing party upon removal from state court, with instructions to serve the brochure upon the opposing parties. The brochure will be distributed in all cases in which the parties pursuant to federal statute and local rule, may consent to magistrate judge jurisdiction. The purpose of the brochure is to better acquaint parties and their counsel, especially those from out of the district and pro se litigants, with the important work magistrate judges perform in the handling of this district’s civil case load.
