GEOPREFS command

Some preferences can be set to control the behavior of some CAPD commands, mostly those that have are geodetic.

The prompt for point ids will cause most commands to ask for a point id at the end of newly created lines. If selected, you can also select whether you want to allow duplicate ids to exist in the drawing.

Most of the time, lines will be drawn at the default AutoCAD elevation. You can enter 3D lines, and be prompted for elevations each time. Be careful, not all commands will work with 3D lines, notibly, BAREA.

You can also select how bearings and other angles are represented at command prompts. This does not effect how bearings, angles, and latititudes and longitudes can be entered. You can always enter angular type input either way. In the case of Decimal Seconds style, you must enter enough leading zeros to be able to determine what you are entering.

As an example 1 second could be entered as 0.0001 in HP style, or 000001 in Decimal Seconds style. Entering 90 by itself will always be interpreted as 90 degrees, as 90 second makes less sense.

***Simply pick the appropriate boxes or circles for your desired setup. The Prompt for Point ID's selection is required for the geodetic routines to prompt you for a GCDB style point id. You will be able to enter any kind of Point Id but it is intended for GCDB style. The geodetic routines will try to compute a Point Id for you and will work fairly well if there is an idgeo block at the projection base point. You can use the following options at point id prompts: + or = will increment the point id by 1, - will decrement it by one, +10 will increment the point id by 10 so 100100 becomes 100110. When you use these options and hit the return key, you will be reprompted with the new point id as the default.
