Blaine, Wash. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection will expand the NEXUS hours of operation at the Pacific Highway port of entry on State Highway 543, officials announced today.

Beginning this Friday, August 22, the dedicated commuter lane will open three hours earlier beginning at 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., daily for vehicular traffic into the United States. Existing hours of operation of the NEXUS lane at the Pacific Highway border station are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

NEXUS allows pre-screened, low risk travelers to be processed with little or no delay by United States and Canadian officials at designated crossings. NEXUS hours of operations will remain unchanged at the ports of Peace Arch; 6 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Point Roberts; 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

“This change of operations at the Pacific Highway is designed to assist cross border commuters traveling from British Columbia to Washington State during construction at the Peace Arch port of entry,” said Assistant Port Director James Rector.

Travelers, including U.S. and Canadian citizens, are reminded to present proof of citizenship and identity when entering the United States at land and sea ports of entry. This requirement can be met with a passport, NEXUS card, an enhanced British Columbia or Washington State driver’s license, or with a birth certificate and driver’s license or government issued photo identification. Travelers 18 and under may present a birth certificate.

Additional information on NEXUS and border wait times can be found on the CBP.gov website. ( NEXUS Program ) ( Border Wait Times )

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
