The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation and the Coalition to Restore
Coastal Louisiana have released a draft report titled:

"Comprehensive Recommendations Supporting the Use of Multiple Lines of
Defense Strategy to Sustain Coastal Louisiana"

This report covers all five planning units in coastal Louisiana and has
recommendations for both coastal restoration and engineered flood
protection, such as, levees and flood gates. The report will be completed
in 2007.

The draft report is available for viewing and commenting at MLODS.org.

The 4th Annual Voice of the Wetlands Festival will be held Oct 12- 14 at
the Southdown Plantation in Houma, La.

The free Festival is not only a great music, food, and cultural family
event, its focus is Coastal Education and Awareness. We have an
opportunity to spread the message about coastal restoration, habitat, land
loss and flood protection, among other things to a diverse national
audience. To do this we need exhibitors, like agencies, non profits, or
companies who can help get the coastal message out.

Exhibits and content will need to pass the VOW committee - no
sales,protest or political campaign messages will be allowed by
exhibitors.The exhibit entry fee is Free and tables/ chairs will be

Volunteers Needed Too!
Voice of the Wetlands Festival is requesting volunteers to help with this
year's festival in Houma LA on October 12-14th. VOW is a volunteer-based
organization and needs more help in the food, kids and general areas of
the festival as well as set up and clean up before and after the festival.
Come out and volunteer your time with our organization and help support

time for a great cause and fun festival weekend!
