    Day One (August 23, 2000)
    Time Event Presenter
    8:00 Introduction and Workshop Objectives:
Describes background and purpose of workshop. Describes processes to be used to engage technology providers of high priority technologies in space flight validation and space environments testing.
    Dr. Dana Brewer
    8:30 Program Overviews
    • New Millennium Program (NMP)
    • Living With A Star Program (LWS)
    • NMP Subsystem Technology Validation
    • Space Environment Testbed (SET)

Describes objectives of NMP and LWS Program. Explains the process to be used for identifying and securing subsystem technologies for space flight validation. Discusses capability-needs assessment process and results, and the technology solutions identified to date. Describes flights-of-opportunity and Space Technology Carrier concept for access to in-space technology validation.

Describes the role of the SET Program in the LWS Program architecture. SET Program goals, tasks, and implementation plan will be discussed. The current testbed concept and criteria for experiment selection will be reviewed.

    Dr. Fuk Li (NMP)

    Dr. George Withbroe (LWS)

Dr. Christopher Stevens (NMP Tech Val.)

    Janet Barth (SET)

10:00 NMP-LWS Space Test Decision Tree
Describes the decision tree used to differentiate between technologies to be tested by LWS and those to be flight validated by NMP.
    Dr. Dana Brewer
10:20 Space Test and Flight Validation Partnerships
Describes the types of partnerships being sought by LWS and NMP for technology development, space test and access to space.
    Dr. Christopher Stevens

    Janet Barth

10:45 Selection of Breakout Group Topics and Assignment of Participants
