Hold frequent press conferences to announce actions you've taken, big or small

The American people need to know what your administration is doing to improve the economy, reduce our dependence on nonrenewable resources, uphold the Constitution, and fight for equal rights for all Americans.

I recommend holding frequent press conferences so the people are made aware of the specific actions you have taken to improve life in this country. Issuing written press releases and having a Press Secretary are necessary because of the volume of work that is done in the White House, but a weekly press conference to recap what, specifically, your administration has done would allow people to appreciate the efforts being taken, and see how effective they are in improving our lives.

I think he is being doing that throu the www.change.gov and hopefully that's what he will do. That's why his mandate will be "Transparent"

Much in the way that businesses have frequent, regular staff/department meetings, agreed.  There's no such thing as "too much information" coming from the Oval Office.  And even though it sometimes feels spam-y, I like getting all the email updates from Change.gov and the transition team.  The sense of being included in the national dialogue, that my thoughts, opinions and experiences count, was a big factor in my Election Day decision.

Too many press conferences diminishes the importance of the address.
Twice every fiscal quarter, would be plenty to keep citizenry informed.

I agree that too many press conferences can be counter-productive for the President; he would run the risk of over-exposure and people might just tune out.  At the same time, having a weekly platform for different people from the administration to speak out on current issues would be great. That would give the public a better understanding for what all members of the Cabinet are addressing and accomplishing.

This seems a bit redundant with the weekly recordings already given

By the way, Mr. President-elect, you're doing a great job of keeping us informed.  Please keep it up!!

Or instead of an old tired useless inefficient press conference, he could use modern technology like, I don't know, maybe a web site or something....

What Esp said.

I disagree with this post.  I think blogs and the addresses posted weekly are sufficient to provide everyone with the information they are looking for.  Holding press conferences takes time - I would much rather Obama spend that time working to revitalize this country.

I agree with most of the comment posters - weekly press conference would waste the administration's time and taxpayer money.  I think this site and the videos are an excellent and far more efficient way of doing the same thing.  Keep it up, Mr. President-Elect!  (only 6 more days - 'til he's President!  so exciting!!!)

I think this is a great idea! It is not a waste of time. Don't you all wish we kept Bush accountable with a weekly press conference? Where the press could grill him face-to-face?

This is why we have a First Amendment Free Press. To inform us, and to hold government accountable. At a press conference, the press directly asked the president the tough questions. At least, that's what it was like with previous presidents.

Lack of press conferences and direct questioning is what was so wrong with the Bush presidency. Even Scott McLellan thinks so!!

use your own judgement.  Call a press conference when you have something to say.

 Ditto KarlB.

Don't waste time talking about what was done. Just Do It.
