AUG 14 1998 Gentlemen: I'm writing in response to ARRL's Simplified license Proposal. I can't believe what I'm reading? What happened to the latest Survey showing the majority of the Hams of all Classes, are in favor of leaving things as they are? Sounds like pure Politics, nothing to do with the Good of Amateur Radio, but to the good of a few, more People,(as a result of less requirements) more sales, more Money?..... Simplified License Structure... What are you talking about? How easy can it be, I`m 64 years old. At 62 I went from Novice to Extra Class in 1 year. Seems to me with a little studying and effort, its a piece of cake. The result of this change will be additional Trash and Filth on the air waves (un Policed I might add). We already see the results of similar Liberal thinking. CW is the Heart and Soul of Ham Radio, without it, were nothing more than glorified CB up- grades. With Power lost as with 90% of beapers recently, etc. what way of Communication will be available using next to No Power? Maybe only means will be CW? Another Problem I see, is some individuals are on the Air with no License at all. It would seem obvious to me, the only way a person should be able to purchase a Ham Transceiver is with proper identification and License... I hope you'll reconsider this Proposed Drastic Change, and at least let nothing effect our Present Frequency's allocated to CW... Sincerely Leo J. Rosneck AA8WD
