The heron is one of 310 species of birds that inhabit the National Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, which shares a boundary with KSC. The marshes and open water of the refuge also provide wintering areas for 23 species of migratory waterfowl, as well as a year-round home for great blue herons, great egrets, wood storks, cormorants, brown pelicans and other species of marsh and shore birds. {highres} 3000 x 2061 {highsize} 8230343 {hightype} JPEG {keywords} NASA,KSC,Kennedy Space Center {lowres} 320 x 219 {lowsize} 80266 {lowtype} GIF {mediumres} 1024 x 703 {mediumsize} 344094 {mediumtype} JPEG {number} KSC-03PD-2985 {slideres} 120 x 108 {slidesize} 15500 {slidetype} GIF {tinyres} 100 x 68 {tinysize} 8515 {tinytype} GIF {title} KSC-03PD-2985 {type} Image {end}
