Abstract: This data set contains boundaries for all Soil Units in the state of New Mexico. It is in a vector digital data structure digitized from a 1:1,000,000 paper map the source software was ARC/INFO 5.0.1 and the conversion software was 7.0.3. The size of the file is 0.58 Mb, compressed.
Purpose: The data set was created to digitally represents the general soils of the state of New Mexico. Intended use of data: These data are typically used as base data for other coverages, and should be used at scales of 1:1,000,000 and smaller. The data are intended for use as a general reference to the extent and boundaries of the general soils of New Mexico.
Supplemental Information: The original data came from U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Soil Conservation Service (SCS). The scale of the original source graphic was 1:1,000,000. Data completeness reflect the content of the source graphic. Only soil units were extracted from the source graphic. The data contains all lines and polygons representing the New Mexico Soils and the New Mexico state boundary. These data meets National Mapping Accuracy Standards for 1:1,000,000 scale maps.
