Negative Even Numbers

Question: Is -2 an even number?
---------------------------------------
Yes, Laura, -2 is an even number. An even number must
be integrally divisible by 2. That means, when you divide
it by 2 you get an integer: a whole number with no fractional
part. -2 divided by 2 is -1 and since -1 is an integer, you
can see that -2 fits the definition.

Yes, an even integer is an integer that is twice another integer.
For example, 6, 0 and -2 are even, since 6 is twice 3, 0 is twice
0 and -2 is twice -1.

Laura,
-2 is an even number. It is 2 times an integer, since -1 qualifies as
an integer.

The definition of an "even" number is that the number is divisible
by "2" without a remainder. Mathematicians would write an even number:
E = (2xN). Then E is always divisible by "2". The definition applies
to all integers, positive and negative, including 0. You can find more
