friendly page] Anchorage Man Pleads Guilty To Atempted Possession Of Methamphetamine With The Intent To Distribute OCT 18 -- (Anchorage) – DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) Harvey L. Goehring and United States Attorney for the District of Alaska, Nelson P. Cohen, announced that Sinakone Phonsavang, a resident of Anchorage, Alaska, plead guilty in U.S. District Court in Anchorage to attempted possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. This felony offense is punishable by up to forty years imprisonment. Phonsavang acknowledged that on September 13, 2007, he took possession of a parcel sent from Southern California that contained approximately 200 grams of methamphetamine. The methamphetamine was concealed inside a stuffed animal which was sent to the defendant’s residence. The methamphetamine had an approximate street value of $20,000. Phonsavang is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sedwick on January 9, 2008. This investigation was a joint investigation between the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration Interdiction Task Force. ASAC Goehring pointed out that the Interdiction Task Force is made up of representatives from the Alaska State Troopers, Anchorage Airport Police and Fire Department, as well as the Anchorage Police Department and that this investigation is another example of Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement working together with the end result being a safer community for all.
