Marah 4, 1955 Dr. Carl C. Lindegrsn Dept. Biological Research University of Southern Illinois Carbondale Il+noia bar Cm1:C.f. /k?- I , i I knew you would be eager to hear the latest Rood news about Bob eight. (Peter Day told me he had written to you about the automobile accident!. Aa you know, he was badly hurt, and in faot has been unconscious for al- most these two weeks. We had huaple reasons especially at firart, to fear for his life, and he seemed to be mak3.q very little progress. However, he has oome back to consciousness over the weekend-- I saw him just a few minutes ago, and he is well oriented, even remembering details of his trip and visit with you. It is not certain yet how much irreparable injury he will be left with, as he continues to improve ; at worat itwill affect parts of his left side, and not so as to prevent hla frm resuming his promising career. Ye aan still hope that this will substantially lessen in tim too. You olet Bob only briefly, but I am sure you arust already have been 80 well impressed that you carp appreciate how the rest of us who have enjoyed working with h&n have felt about the whole affair. We have every cause to bs thankful now. Mari has told us of your excellent (as usual) hospitality; do let us return it in &rt by visiting Madison yourselves. She has been a good, soldier through- put this ordeal.
