Whereas, Arsenio S. Whereas, following his ordination, Father Carrillo's first assignment was at St. Augustine Cathedral.  He remained in this capacity until June 1963 when he was named pastor of Holy Family, his home parish, where he served nearly five years until being named pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Douglas.  On September 30, 1969, Bishop Francis J. Green appointed Father Carrillo as pastor of St. Augustine Cathedral and Episcopal Vicar for the Spanish-speaking people of the diocese; and

Whereas, on June 27, 1979, Bishop Green enacted the directive of His Holiness Pope John Paul II in vesting Father Carrillo as an Honorary Prelate to the Holy Father, entitling him to the title of "Monsignor."  On December 12, 1988, Bishop Manuel Moreno honored Monsignor Carrillo by naming him Vicar General for the Diocese of Tucson; and

Whereas, Monsignor Carrillo faithfully and ably served the people of St. Augustine Cathedral until his resignation as pastor on June 29, 1995.  He continued to serve as associate pastor until his formal retirement on July 1, 2002.  Monsignor Carrillo remains active in his ministry by taking communion to the sick and by celebrating the Eucharist at Our Mother of Sorrows, St. Augustine Cathedral, Santa Catalina, and Our Lady Queen of All Saints parishes; and

Whereas, the parishioners and leadership of St. Augustine Cathedral are honoring Monsignor Carrillo's Fiftieth Anniversary of Ordination and his four decades of service to the parish and community by dedicating the renovated placita at St. Augustine as the "Monsignor Arsenio S. Carrillo Placita."

Therefore

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:
