Summary WINVICAR is a collection of approximately 150 programs developed for processing of image data on the Windows platform. WINVICAR is a derivative of the VICAR package developed for image processing on the Unix and VAX/VMS platforms. The programs in the WINVICAR package can be run either at the command prompt or via a graphical user interface (GUI).
... Although the WINVICAR package contains numerous general purpose image processing programs for completeness, its primary purpose is to provide software developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for the analysis of data from the NASA family of airborne and spaceborne imaging spectrometers to users of those data.

Description:
VICAR, which stands for Video Image Communication And Retrieval, is a general
purpose image processing software system that has been developed since 1966 to
digitally process multi-dimensional imaging data. VICAR was developed primarily
to process images from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory's unmanned planetary
spacecraft. It is now used for a variety of other applications including
biomedical image processing, cartography, earth resources, astronomy, and
geological exploration. It is not only used by JPL but by several universities,
NASA sites and other science/research institutions in the United States and
Europe.
