Objective: to determine the level of knowledge and risk behaviour related to STD, HIV/AIDS among musar tribal woman of Nepal. Method: Qualitative research method was used. Data on Socio demographic, sexual practices and awareness on STD, HIV/AIDS were collected, 40 in depth interviews, 6 Focus group discussions, 10 key informants interviews were carried out. Results: None of the women of this tribe is literate. Average age for marriage is 12-13. All the women smoke and take alcohol. No women ever heard of HIV/AIDS. Symptoms of STD is associated with, hot season, body heat, hot and spicy foods, evil eye, witch craft and God's wrath. Lack of sexual contact is believed to be the cause for white discharge PV. The only remedy for symptoms of STD is faith healers and rituals. Most of the women never heard of condom and no one uses condom. Women are severely punished publicly if they are found in premarital or extramarital relationships. Women are not allowed to make sexual decision. Because of poverty men are migrating in search of labour to countries where HIV prevalence is very high. Conclusions: Information of STD, HIV/AIDS amongst this population group is severely lacking. There is an urgent need for creating awareness to this vulnerable population to prevent them from risk of STD, HIV/AIDS.
