NASA EXPLORER SCHOOL OPENS DOORS TO HUNDREDS FOR DISCOVERY NIGHT

MOFFETT FIELD, Calif., -- Edward Harris Jr. Middle School, Elk Grove, 
Calif., will transform itself into an epicenter of discovery and 
science activities next week and invites community members and news 
media to join the fun. Participants can enjoy building and launching 
rockets, making “goop,” playing math and science games, and entering 
a raffle for a chance to win prizes.

Edward Harris Jr. Middle School was selected to be a NASA Explorer 
School (NES) in 2007 and will continue to partner with NASA for the 
next two years. NASA sponsors the NES program to help educators and 
students join NASA's mission of discovery through educational 
activities and learning opportunities that are tailored to promote 
career explorations in science, mathematics and technology. 

WHAT: An opportunity to witness NASA Explorer School students from 
Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School learn and play during a family night 
of science and fun. Activities will include games, launching rockets, 
making “goop,” and participating in teacher-led breakout sessions: 
Mars Bound, Rockets, Smart Skies and Seeds in Space. 

WHEN: 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. PDT, Wednesday, March 12, 2008 
- 6:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. PDT: Doors open 
- 6:45 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. PDT: First round of breakout sessions
- 7:20 p.m. – 7:50 p.m. PDT: Second round of breakout sessions
- 7:50 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. PDT: Raffle awards
